At Alpharetta High School, ALTRUISM represents more than just a word — it is a guiding principle that defines who we are as a community. Rooted in the belief that true success comes not only from personal achievement but also from serving others, ALTRUISM embodies our school’s dedication to developing compassionate, responsible, and socially aware students.
Through service opportunities, mentorship, and outreach, AHS encourages students to look beyond themselves and recognize their power to make a difference. Our programs, such as the Service Cord Initiative, provide students with meaningful ways to give back — whether by volunteering in local organizations, supporting school-wide service events, or participating in national and global causes. Each act of service strengthens the bond between our students and their community, creating a ripple effect of kindness and leadership that extends far beyond the classroom.
ALTRUISM at Alpharetta High School also nurtures empathy and civic responsibility. Students learn that service is not just about fulfilling hours, but about understanding real-world needs and taking action to improve the lives of others. The Altruism at Alpharetta High School
AHS students are encouraged to learn about and contribute to school and community through service.
AHS students contribute more than 20,000 hours of service annually.
Several Honors Clubs are available with a service component such as tutoring and/or helping beautify campus.
Several additional Service Clubs provide fun opportunities locally, such as Silver Raiders and the Environmental Club.
Every student accruing and verifying 100 volunteer hours in their senior year is eligible for a Community Service Honor Cord at graduation.
